In 2009, my wife and I started our little family. Nothing has had a more profound impact upon my life.
Since that time my understanding of and connection to family photography has grown immeasurably, and continues to do so. With each passing birthday I marvel at my daughter's achievements and sit back in awe of how she is changing. As much as I love seeing her grow and take immense delight in the person she is becoming, I keep thinking that perhaps this is the birthday where she needs to stop growing so I can keep her forever as she is now. Of course it's fleeting because we all want to see our children grow and go off and create amazing lives for themselves...
As I've gotten older I've also started collecting our old family photos from wherever I can get my hands on them. They are simply stunning. No pixel counting, no judging of frames they are housed in, but simply enjoying the profound sense of history, connection and continuity.
I lean towards this 'lifestyle' type of photography because for a good portion of our time together during your session, I can be a witness, an observer. Someone who is documenting the profound joy and boundless energy of your children and your family.
Sessions can be at a park, the beach, in the city, or even in your own backyard. Whatever best represents you is where we want to be. One day your children's children will hopefully be going though these images together and laughing, crying, reminiscing.
